     Preventative Maintenance

 

•  Never put hard to grind, stringy, or fibrous waste in  the garbage disposal, such as, poultry skins, celery, fruit pits, and banana peels.

 

• Run cold water down the plumbing drains before and after using the electric garbage disposal to flush plumbing waste down the main plumbing drain lines.

 

• Once a week run hot water down the plumbing drains to help keep your pipes free-flowing down to the sewer so you wont have to call a plumbing drain professional.

 

• Offensive odors can occur from a build up of food debris inside your electric garbage disposal. To eliminate these odors, place ice cubes and lemon peels in the plumbing disposal and run it for about thirty seconds, then rinse with cold water down the plumbing drains.

• Turn off the garbage disposal electrical power switch .
• Do not put hands or objects down the plumbing drains .
• Make sure the electrical appliance is plugged in securely at the electrical outlet
• With the electrical power switch turned off, press the reset switch on the front or bottom of the electric garbage disposal
• Restart  the disposal by turning on the electrical power switch
